A medium sized bamboo. Its narrow, lanceolate leaves from green to light green coloured so as to appear almost yellow and reach lengths of up to 15 cm. Its canes are upright and grooved. In the lower parts there are swellings below each node and the nodes near the bottom are asymmetric, often lopsided and very close together.
